Abstract :
An efficiently combined structure of a smart antenna array and a conventional RAKE combiner is presented and applied to the pilot symbol-assisted reverse link in a WCDMA system. According to the frame structure of WCDMA, we use a least-mean-square (LMS) adaptive array processing algorithm, which uses the spreading sequences of pilot symbols of each slot as the reference signals for updating the weight vectors of the antenna arrays. The simulation results show the method is simple and practical, and improves the capacity of the system greatly, thus solving the capacity problem of the reverse channel of WCDMA systems.
