Abstract :
We propose a new method to extend the IEEE 802.11b WLAN standard physical layer protocols to achieve a data rate of 22 Mbps. Our proposal assume the constraint that the payload modulation should continue to employ the complementary code keying (CCK) codes employed for the 5.5 and 11 Mbps rates of IEEE 802.11b, but the fast Walsh transform (FWT) that is used in the decoding process for 5.5 and 11 Mbps data rates is modified so as to adapt for the 22 Mbps data rates. This proposal is a new attempt to extend the data rates for the IEEE 802.11b, and the Eb/N0 versus BER for this proposal shows an acceptable performance in the AWGN channel.
