Abstract
The paper presents a modified video codec for heterogeneity multicast. The modified codec first tries to improve the performance of a baseline algorithm by proposing a new construction of a matching pursuit over-complete basis set. Considering the factor of multicast video in a heterogeneous network, the codec adds a new control factor to the original iterative convergence course, which shows the video coding change with the requirement of the heterogeneous environment. The results, compared with H.263 at 10 kbit/s and 24 kbit/s, show that the modified method is an efficient and effective coding solution to very low bit rate video coding and heterogeneous multicast video.
