Abstract
An implicit controller for the stabilization of molten steel levels in a vacuum-based continuous caster is proposed. The controller is synthesized from the feedback linearizing approach. The output error is designed to be asymptotically stable and the values of the control inputs are numerically determined using the Newton-Rapson iterative procedure. The dynamic performance of the closed-loop system is analyzed by means of numerical simulations.
