Abstract :
As a new function for microwave ovens, the heating of food to a variety of respective target temperatures is being developed. A food-recognition algorithm, which is based on dish recognition, was developed to realize this function. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the algorithm. In the experiments, the position and direction of ´box lunches´ were recognized. Experimental results showed that the correct recognition rate was 80% and that in case of incorrect recognitions the result of recognition was rotated by 180 degrees from the correct orientation. The recognition performance will be improved by the use of a color gradient.
