Abstract
In this letter, we have experimentally evaluated the performance of all-optical format conversion using a self-generating optical clock. To show the feasibility of this method, we have demonstrated the all-optical format conversion from return-to-zero ON-OFF keying to return-to-zero differential phase-shift keying using the self-generating optical clock at a bit-rate of 10 Gb/s, and successfully achieved high-conversion performances in terms of bit-error-rate measurement.
