Abstract :
The paper proposes a threshold algorithm for channel equalization in impulse noise environments. The variance of the received signal is calculated and used as the threshold for the LMS algorithm. The proposed algorithm makes filtering systems robust to impulse noise. By computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed algorithm is effectively used as the adaptation scheme for a linear transversal equalizer.
