            Abstract :
Broadband wireless ATM networks are subject to selective fading effects resulting in severe intersymbol interference (ISI) and, consequently, high bit error rate (BER). multi-carrier modulation (MCM) is an effective technique to mitigate the undesirable influence of frequency selective fading. We compute the performance of a wireless ATM network that uses MCM and we propose and analyse an adaptive MCM scheme in which the poorest sub-carriers are suppressed. We also present a modified system, in which the ATM cells are interleaved before transmission, in such a way that each cell is fully transmitted by a particular sub-carrier.
