Abstract
The investigation of the human characteristic on visual and auditory reaction time is very important for making high-reality virtual environments and safe uses of multimedia machines. Up to now human visual and auditory mechanisms have been investigated as two separate systems. In this study, we focus on human characteristics of the visual and auditory calculation processing, and the reaction time and electroencephalogram (EEG) are measured. Based on the measurement results and the results in our previous functional magnetic resonance imaging study, the authors discuss the difference between the visual and auditory information processing.
