Abstract
An analytical framework for characterizing the performance of cellular mobile radio systems that employ a smart antenna to suppress a few dominant cochannel interferers (CCI) out of a total of L CCI signals using a fast null steering algorithm is developed. Closed form expressions for the moment generating function, probability density function and the cumulative distribution function of the sum of uncancelled interfering signals subject to independent and non identically distributed Rayleigh fading statistics are derived. Outage probability analysis in the presence of receiver noise is also investigated. Average error probability performance of a multitude of coherent and non-coherent digital modulation schemes is studied while the desired user signal is subject to Nakagami-m fading.
