Abstract
A new method for designing robust wideband generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC) using fan filter as blocking matrix is proposed in this paper. The idea presented is to exploit the line shape spectrum of the propagating wave and design a fan filter which suppresses the signal from a specific direction as well as over the interested frequency band. Robust performance to steering error can be achieved by designing the fan filter with a protected region around the assumed target direction. Moreover, the fixed beamformer in GSC can use the fan filter also. Simulation results show that the proposed array processor has robust performance to large steering error, and it has high interference cancellation performance.
