Abstract
In this paper, the problem of designing a digital IIR allpass filter to have an arbitrarily prescribed phase response is considered. The filter coefficients are determined by using least pth phase error criterion. An iterative reweighted least squares method is used to obtain the optimal filter coefficients by solving a set of linear simultaneous equations in each iteration. Design examples of Hilbert transformer and fractional delay filter are demonstrated to illustrate the effectiveness of the new design method.
