Abstract
The new version of DECtalk® offers significant improvements in the voice quality of formant-based synthesized voices. The key to the improved voice quality is the incorporation of the HLsyn model; HLsyn is a hybrid articulatory-acoustic model of speech production. The new DECtalk voices sound more natural and can be easily modified to create a variety of different voices. The voices can be tailored to meet the requirements of specific applications and of individual users. The new DECtalk voices are simply better.
