Abstract
This paper presents a study on the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of near-field sources with the presence of mutual coupling of the receiving array elements. Furthermore, we present a novel method to compensate the mutual coupling effect via the use of genetic algorithm, and it has been shown that the compensated result can produce a reasonable accuracy on the true location of radiating sources.
