Abstract :
We present a very fast algorithm for image registration, which reduces the computational cost significantly in comparison with the direct approach of trial and error. The proposed approach is appropriate for distortions which form a group, ie the transformation to which an image is subject can be expressed as the combination of two other transformations of the same type. We demonstrate it here for the case of shifting, rotation and scaling.
