Abstract :
The spectral based interpolation (SBI) technique is presented as a post-processing approach for electromagnetic time domain simulations. Based on accurate spectral estimation techniques, SBI is able to calculate three dimensional field patterns at the frequencies of interest and to produce fast 3D frequency sweeps. SBI accounts for the excitation spectrum as well as for truncation effects, and thus is able to considerably enhance the accuracy of aborted time domain simulations. As a pure post-processing technique SBI can be applied to arbitrary time domain codes without any specific changes necessary. Additionally, all needed information can be collected in a single simulation run, even if the frequencies of interest are not known in advance.
