Abstract :
Mobile devices have many constraints, not least of which is power. Two issues with regard to low-power mobile devices are discussed here. This paper proposes a refined algorithm for approximating the computational complexities involved in turbo codes. This is then put to use designing "good codes" for mobile devices that have access to limited computational resources. This paper also investigates and discusses the advantages of the coding gain afforded by the turbo codes in the mobile arena.
