  • Abstract
    Fiber Bragg gratings with phase-only superstructure (´sampling´) are shown to enable the fabrication of large channel counts with adequate reflectivity. Grating fabrication is facilitated by the standard side-writing technique, where the entire sampling pattern is included in a precise, lithographically prepared phase mask. Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) have recently seen application as a new class of extremely versatile devices to address a wide variety of challenges of present and future wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) systems.
