Abstract
The piecewise-homogeneous strip {x/spl epsi/(-/spl infin/,0),y/spl epsi/[-1,1]}/spl cup/{x/spl epsi/(0,/spl infin/),y/spl epsi/[-1,1]} consisting of two semi-infinite strips is considered. Direct and inverse problems for determination of residual stresses, that are caused by the differences on the temperature expansion coefficients and the elastic characteristics of the two different parts of the strip are considered. To formulate the inverse problem the data, which can be obtained with acoustic measurements, are used. To solve the problems a variation method are used.
