  • Abstract
In this paper, a phase-locked battery charge system (PLBCS) is proposed. The circuit topology of the proposed PLBCS is same as that of the phase-locked loop (PLL), which means that the proposed PLBCS can have lots of inherently abilities as PLLs have, such as auto-tracking, auto-locking, and high accuracy. A complete charging process, consisting of three sub-processes, can be easily and automatically implemented using these inherent characteristics of the proposed PLBCS. The mathematical model of the PLBCS is also presented to analyze the PLBCS´s stability and safe charging condition for determining suitable variable values. A prototype of PLBCS is designed and built to assess the PLBCS´s performance. Experimental results show that the proposed PLBCS provides a better charge current and gains safe charge condition as we analyzed.
