Abstract
Traffic signal control and route guidance are the two main ways of online administration for urban traffic. Upon the basic principle of traffic control and guidance, the necessity and requirement of coordination between control and guidance is analyzed based on their spatio-temporal quality, systems targets, functions, input and output. The possible coordination modes between them are proposed after the relationships in different levels are discussed. The coordination content and the factors that impact the mode choice are given at last.
