Abstract :
In this paper, we review some of the progresses in quantum- and nano-structure semiconductor devices with a particular focus on femtosecond all-optical switches based on intersubband transition in quantum wells (QWs) and ultrafast quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers (QD-SOAs).
