  • Abstract
Ethernet is increasingly called upon to provide different applications and users with different levels of service. Therefore, discussions on the algorithm of the simulation for switching Ethernet have received a lot of attention in the last few years. In this paper, we mainly research on the modeling and simulation for Ethernet. We propose the models of switch port and communication node, and the event-driven algorithm is applied to define a series of network events. According to their interrelations, these discrete events are driven, using the algorithm proposed. Finally, the simulation results are compared with practical data, which demonstrates that the model and algorithm are feasible to be applied to evaluate the performance of switching Ethernet.
