Abstract
The design concept evaluation is important, since the poor selection of a design concept can never be compensated for at later design stages. A new method for ranking the design concepts under fuzzy environment is presented in this paper. The importance weights of different criteria and the ratings of various alternatives under different criteria are assessed in linguistic terms represented by fuzzy numbers. Fuzzy value of each of the alternatives is computed using standard fuzzy arithmetic. Concept of fuzzy distance measure is introduced to decide the final ranking of alternatives. A numerical example is given at the end to illustrate the proposed method.
