Abstract :
Enabling both cellular phone service and ad hoc communication with a single terminal will make personal communication more convenient. This can be achieved by using a compatible air interface in the two modes. In this paper, we propose a new approach of ad hoc networking based on a modified air interface of TD-SCDMA, which is the 3G mobile communication standard proposed by China. The same frame structure as TD-SCDMA is used while appropriate modifications are made to the air interface. We present a scheme of radio resource management optimized for ad hoc networks, which can resolve multihop collisions, is adaptable to topology changes and is efficient for connection creation and release. Analytical results show that good performance can be achieved.
