  • Abstract
Due to the increasing demands of multimedia services supporting high bit rates and mobility, the satellite IP-based (S-IP) network is becoming an important component of the global IP network. Firstly, this paper discusses the framework of the LEO S-IP network without inter-satellites links (ISLs), in which the RSVP aggregation protocol can be implemented. Then a novel policy is proposed for the IP addresses assignment. At last, this paper focuses on the handoff in the S-IP network and proposes a handoff algorithm to realize low latency handoff by neighbor broadcasting. The simulation result shows that this policy can greatly reduce the signal data quantity and handoff latency, and effectively guarantee QoS of the real-time services to some extent.
