Abstract :
In this paper, we study resource allocation policies for data services in a CDMA-based network. We present a detailed packet level resource allocation scheme that consists of different sorting strategies for backlogged flows and an exhaustive data rate allocation algorithm that satisfies the optimal power allocation constraint. The sorting strategies and the rate allocation algorithm determine the order that a user receives resources and the resource share that a user can receive. We present three sorting strategies, which may characterize the relationship between fairness among users and system utilization efficiency. We compare the performance of the sorting strategies via simulations and our investigations include the achievable system capacity, fairness among users and delay performance.
