Abstract :
This paper describes in detail the on-going integration of dynamic security assessment in ERCOT´s energy management system. The main features of the integration effort are the voltage security assessment tool and the transient security assessment tool. Data exchange, preparation and output visualization are described in the context of distributed architecture and the latest Web-FG technology available to the user for selecting, preparing and reporting the on-line and study mode cases. ERCOT engineers will analyze operating as well as planning horizons with the purpose of resource coordination and transaction (power transfer) analysis under certain contingencies and monitored sets. The dynamic security applications are triggered as part of the network security sequence or study sequence. In the real-time sequence, the network model is created from the state estimation results. The architecture and system configuration plays an important role for on-line implementation, in which several CPUs are used to reduce the execution time for day and week-ahead analysis. The user-friendly data exchange setup prevents conflict between several instances of DSA users and modes.
