Abstract
Under short-circuit conditions, low voltage winding of a transformer suffers enormous radial electromagnetic forces. When these forces exceed certain value, the winding will be buckling. In the paper, a mechanic model of stability for the whole winding is set up. It´s used in buckling analysis of the low voltage helicoidal winding in a single-phase 24000 kVA/500 kV power transformer.
