Abstract :
This paper deals with the method for extracting graphics information from DXF files, in which are the NURBS curves stored. With the extracted data, the parametric formulation of the NURBS curve can be constructed. And then, we provide an algorithm for approximating arbitrary parametric curves with circular arcs. The above processing for NURBS has been applied in the lath incision machine, which makes it possible for the CNC cutter to produce complex shaped workpieces. This machine includes 3 sets of servo motors, one set of 3-axis CNC and a conventional PC. Experimental results indicate that this method is able to provide a satisfactory performance.
