Abstract :
This paper deals with the finite element analysis of 3-phase induction motor with PWM (pulse width modulated) inverter fed. When a motor is driven by PWM inverter, its input and output power is different from those of commercial (sinusoidal) supply, because PWM inverter voltage contains high frequency components. Therefore, in order to analyze the motor performance precisely, the transient analysis to express PWM inverter output voltage is required. This paper presents the method of constitution of variable time step transient analysis for calculating the PWM inverter voltage. The result shows the difference of current in motor between commercial and PWM inverter voltage.
