Abstract
Permanent magnet DC (PMDC) motors have extensive field of application. While rotor moving, the variation of air-gap reluctance under PM pole causes cogging torque. The coil current varies during commutation period. The two factors cause torque fluctuation. Finite element analysis (FEA) is used to solve the fluctuation in this paper. The moving problem of rotor is analyzed by interpolation moving boundary method. Armature commutation rule is determined through taking account of practical brush width. The proposed method has been proved efficient and accurate after comparing the FEA results with measured data.
