Abstract
The formulae for design sensitivity and the adjoint variable of 3D shape optimization are derived, which are based on 3D finite element method for eddy current problem and nonlinear magnetostatic problem respectively. Numerical applications to the shape optimum design of shielding plates and pole pieces of permanent magnet assembly for magnetic resonance imaging show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and optimal design system.
