Abstract
This paper presents a new concept of texture image method for displaying electromagnetic fields. Field vectors are mapped to a grayscale image through its magnetic vector potential modulated with a sine function. The image visualizes a soft appearance of flux tubes instead of flux lines, whose orientation and width reflect the direction and amplitude of field vectors respectively. Extension algorithm of illuminated model and displaying the eddy current field distributed on three dimensional conductor surfaces based on this concept are further discussed. The images rendered by the new algorithms show some unique properties that are rather different from others.
