Abstract :
Presented in the paper is a new structure of arc-suppression coil with magnetic bias and its characteristics. It consists of an iron core with three columns and five coils. The cross-section of the two side columns is cut down partly by two grades and the diminished parts act as the area where the main magnetization occurs. The central column is inset with air-gaps that determine the low limit of compensative current. Three AC coils are wrapped on the three columns of the iron core and the central one is connected in series with the side ones that are connected in parallel. The two DC coils connected in inverse series are wrapped at the two side columns inside the AC coils. Its mathematics model is built, simulation results with matlab are given. A prototype is developed to confirm these results.
