Abstract :
There are two fundamental interfaces to the radio under test (RUT) in an automated test system (ATS) i.e. intrusive and non-intrusive, intrusive approach can be either software intrusive or hardware intrusive or both. Automated radio tools server, ARTS, is an initiative to develop a nonintrusive and non-product specific automated test tool for subscriber radios. ARTS aim to provide an abstraction of the functional interface with target RUT in ATS architecture. Through this level of abstraction, different ATS can be developed to utilize standard ARTS services to control the RLT. Three fundamental test services have been identified for the implementation in ARTS: keypress services, LCD display services and radio tone services. This paper attempts to present the motivation, design and describe the possible implementation of ARTS in several system-level ATS platform.
