Abstract
Self-regulating simulated annealing (SRSA) is presented as a simple approach to efficiently implement a simulated annealing algorithm for multivariate optimization problems. SRSA is demonstrated to recover the amplitude and phase information of optical pulses from numerically simulated frequency-resolved optical gating spectrograms. Pulse-retrieval using SRSA exhibited greater success with nonlinearly chirped pulses versus linearly chirped pulses.
