Abstract :
Multiphoton laser scanning microscopy is a powerful tool for studying small structures and their dynamics in living brain tissue. This paper outlines the uses of multiphoton microscopy for the in vivo imaging the structure and function of dendritic spines, which are the postsynaptic sites of synapses in the central nervous system.
