Beach management options at Lady Robinsons Beach, Botany Bay, Australia

The construction of the Sydney Airport parallel runway, along with port development works and natural processes in Botany Bay, has changed the pattern and intensity of waves that reach Lady Robinsons Beach. This has resulted in the beach being severely eroded in some areas, and expanded in others. The Sydney Ports Corporation has undertaken extensive studies to investigate the coastal processes of the area and to consider suitable methods for beach re-habilitation and management. This study investigated various beach management options for restoration of Lady Robinsons Beach. Wave and sediment transport modeling studies were conducted to assess the wave and sediment transport patterns. A beach management study program for fifty years planning period was prepared.
