Abstract :
Joint detection of cochannel signals is an effective method to increase the capacity of wireless systems. In this paper we develop a soft output algorithm to jointly detect cochannel GMSK signals in a coded wireless system. The cochannel detection performance in a flat Rayleigh fading channel is investigated. Simulations show that the proposed soft output cochannel detector provides a 6 to 7 dB improvement over the joint hard output maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (JMLSE) cochannel detector in the example system.
