            Abstract :
Sequence alignment is used to detect homologies between newly sequenced and existing protein/DNA families, and furthermore predict secondary and tertiary structures. Development of methods for multiple sequence alignment (MSA) is a hot topic in computational biology. This paper presents our development of a parallel MSA algorithm and its experimental results, using the message passing interface on a multi-node compute cluster. Typical sequence data of the G-protein coupled receptor family from NCBI are used for scaling tests. The experimental results are encouraging.
