Abstract :
NAT-PT is one important technology for IPv4 to IPv6 transition by mapping protocols and addresses to enable communication between IPv4-only and IPv6-only networks. However, traditional NAT-PT gateways have limits in scalability, resilience and performance. This paper presents two approaches, NAT-based and DNS-based, for load-balance and fault-tolerance to address such limits. Our implementation and analysis demonstrate that these two approaches can have better performance, resilience and scalability than the traditional NAT-PT approach, and DNS-based approach is better than NAT-based one.
