Abstract :
The European Commission has launched a legislative initiative called INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) which aims to establish a European geo-information infrastructure. This article provides some background information on INSPIRE and shows how interoperability of geo-information could gradually be realized, based on the concepts of intraand inter-information community consensus on interoperability.
