Abstract
In this paper, an effective method for removing the clutter effects from the data collected using a stand-off impulse GPR with a small electromagnetic probe is presented. The method requires no a priori knowledge about the target and/or ground characteristics. Essentially, it combines successive processing and spatial variable moving averaging (SVMA) to eliminate the clutter and to enhance the detection of small land mines shallowly buried in different soils. In addition, this method can use measured GPR data to infer the effective soil permittivity.
