Abstract :
Crop division is a prerequisite to crop yield estimation by remote sensing. Proper division will be very helpful to attain an accurate estimation. In this study, division indicators were selected and GIS techniques and clustering analysis were used to carry out a crop division for yield estimation by remote sensing. As a result, two two-level divisions, crop structure division and production type division were gained. These crop divisions which considered both natural conditions and agriculture techniques, were used to provide sampling regions and yield estimating units as guidance to the distribution of sampling points, lines and regions for crop yield estimation by remote sensing. Based on these crop divisions, accurate crop yield estimation can be obtained by remote sensing.
