Abstract :
Our study aims at automatically identifying urban material characteristics from images acquired with an airborne digital frame camera during standard aerial missions. An object is usually seen in several images under different lighting and viewing directions. This means that reflection properties of materials can be used to differentiate between two materials. In this article, we show how this can be achieved. Results are encouraging, even though further investigation is still required.
