Abstract :
Security problems in MANET in terms of authentication have been studied extensively in over two decades. However, relatively less attention has been dedicated to the security of the routing protocol itself. Threshold cryptography proved to be an effective scheme for key management and distribution. However it adds overhead to routing and increases traffic in the network. Furthermore, attacks such as wormhole and Denial of Service (DoS) can compromise routes through spoofing ARP or IP packets, passively or actively. We present a novel approach to facilitate certificate packet delivery and reduce the overhead caused by threshold cryptography. The new protocol combines threshold cryptography with routing discovery and employs a geography based filter to enhance security. Our experimental simulation indicated good performance of-the new approach.
