  • Abstract
This paper describes an electronic billboard system called Interactive Wireless Electronic Billboard. This new type of electronic billboard is a data processing system equipped with a display device and short-range wireless communication capability, such as Bluetooth. Potential use of the Interactive Wireless Electronic Billboard is in commercial product advertisements and transactions. In this application, the display device displays product advertisements while the data processing system uses a wireless communication interface to communicate with nearby mobile devices such as PDAs. Upon seeing an advertisement on a display device, a customer may initiate a request from his mobile device to start an interactive process with the electronic billboard system to receive more information, or to complete the transaction of purchasing the advertised product. In this paper, we present a high level design and proposed system architecture of the Interactive Wireless Electronic Billboard system.
