Abstract :
A coupled-mode approach to analysing a transverse Bragg resonance (TBR) waveguide is compared to a two dimensional finite difference time domain calculation. We show the coupled-mode formalism can provide an intuitive method to analyse TBR waveguides even for large index contrasts.
