Abstract :
This work presents the study of a set of Nd/sup 3+/ doped yttrium and gadolinium orthovanadates crystal fibers, characterizing them as potential diode-pumped laser media. Stimulated emission at 1.06 /spl mu/m was achieved in an YVO/sub 4/:Nd/sup 3+/ fiber.
